Each morning millions of voices intone the deep rhythms of the GayatriMantra. She is the seed of all the Vedic mantras, and has been chanted as a morning ritual for thousands of years.
Mantra practice can support parasympathetic activation and increase vagal tone bringing us into a relaxed state and into deeper parts of ourselves. We direct the mind onto a chosen focus to facilitate the stages of meditation. These progress from brief focus to a continuous flow of focused attention, to complete absorption. We choose a focus that we will then become.
In order to truly receive the benefits of this ancient practice we need to have precise articulation of each of the sounds. You will learn traditional Vedic notation, correct Sanskrit pronunciation. Rachel will share a beautiful sequence of hand mudras that we will flow through as we chant. This mystical dance made with the hands are gestures to the divine that support our focus and energy.
Our hope is that you will feel confident at this end of this workshop to bring this practice into your morning. It will support you to awaken the qualities of radiance, lightness and faith. I particularly enjoy practicing at the beach at sunrise. When you continually meditate on the light of the divine you start to see her everywhere and in everything. Mantras are like putting the key in the lock, a door is opened, and something is revealed. They unlock our innate potential; my heart and soul are lifted; my small mundane mind transcended… the love experienced. We hope you will join us.
